Former UFC Heavyweight Champion and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar announced tonight onSportsCenter that he will not return to his MMA career in the UFC, but will remain with the WWE. Below are some quotes from his exclusive interview with ESPN’s Michelle Beadle.
Lesnar on coming to the decision to not return to a career in MMA and remain with WWE…
“It was a very hard decision for me…it’s hard to talk about it. The fighter inside me wants to compete…You know I’m an older caveman now, so I make wiser caveman decisions. So I’m here to say that my legacy in the Octagon is over, however my legacy this Sunday at WrestleMania will not be my last.”
“It was a hard decision to make. It took me a year…For the last two, two and a half months I’ve been training to get back into the Octagon and felt physically great, but something lacked mentally and that’s not good.”
“I had many sleepless nights on what to do and at the end of the day, it weighed heavily on my heart. I was born to be an entertainer and I have fun doing it. I could go back to the Octagon, but what am I going to gain? I was the UFC Heavyweight Champion of the World….”

Their names transcend the sport of MMA. Kimbo. Shamrock.
Two of the most recognizable fighters in combat sports – Kimbo Slice and “The World’s Most Dangerous Man,” Ken Shamrock – will now battle in the Bellator cage on Friday, June 19. “Bellator: Unfinished Business” will air Live and Free on Spike TV from inside St. Louis’ Scottrade Center.
On October 4, 2008, a freak accident robbed the MMA world of one of the most anticipated fights in the history of the sport. On Friday, June 19, Bellator MMA will right that wrong. Street fighting legend and YouTube sensation Kimbo Slice and “The World’s Most Dangerous Man,” Ken Shamrock, have agreed to renew their rivalry and will now meet in the main event of “Bellator: Unfinished Business,”
“I remember how excited I was when this fight was originally announced, and how disappointed I was when it didn’t come to fruition at that time,” said Bellator President Scott Coker. “I’m very happy we were able to put this one together because I know these guys still have a lot of unfinished business to take care of, and when they do, it will be something special.”
More bouts will be announced shortly.
Tickets for “Bellator: Unfinished Business,” which range from $30 to $200, go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 27, at Bellator.com and Ticketmaster.com. Online presales begin on Wednesday, March 25.
The two superstar headliners each played featured roles in the two most-watched MMA contests in U.S. television history.
For Slice, a chance to revisit the matchup provides an opportunity to rewrite history.
“Ken Shedrack, I owe you this ass whooping,” Slice said. “No more running! No more hiding!”
Meanwhile, Shamrock is an MMA Hall of Famer and multiple-time world champion who is universally recognized as a true pioneer of the sport. Competing professionally since 1993, Shamrock has fought the absolute biggest names in the history of MMA, including Rich Franklin, Don Frye, Royce Gracie, Matt Hume, Ortiz, Bas Rutten, Kazushi Sakuraba and Dan Severn, among many others.
Shamrock believes his drive and determination have him in the best form of his career.
“I am back,” Shamrock said. “It’s good to be performing again for my fans. I feel great, and my health is great. Age should never be a factor if an athlete is healthy, in great shape, and has the drive to continue their sport. I will quit fighting when I want to.”
And for Shamrock, the frustration of that bizarre 2008 night has lingered for years. Now is a chance to prove he would have been the one with his hand raised.
“Kimbo Slice and I have some unfinished business,” Shamrock said. “I am a fighter – that’s who I am. Fighting has always invigorated me.”

As seen at the end of Raw last night, Triple H took hold of the mic and ran Daniel Bryan down yet again in typical fashion, as he proclaimed that the 5’8″ grappler is not worthy of being “The Face of WWE.” The Chief Operating Officer’s remarks had a lot of people shaking their heads backstage since they feel he was burying him as a performer rather than knocking him in a villainous manner that would lead to Bryan gaining retribution.
As noted, Total Divas star Eva Marie is said to be strongly disliked by some of her co-workers. In August it was reported that she was “passionately hated.”
The reason is because by how she portrayed herself on the scripted E! reality show.
“Even though Total Divas is a reality show and it’s scripted, and most normal, rational people realize it’s fake, there are people in WWE who watch that show and developed a very strong dislike for Eva Marie…having never met her in their life,” said Brian Alvarez of the observer.
Alvarez adds that her critics in the company came to the conclusion that she is “unlikable,” which triggered “a movement to make her look foolish.”
Two weeks ago, Eva Marie wrestled in matches for Raw and SmackDown despite having only competed once before in her short career.
The 29-year-old’s performance drew negative reviews online, as her inexperience was put on display before millions of viewers.
According to sources, officials wanted to knock her down a few pegs due to their belief that she has an undeserved ego.
The Wyatt Family continued their dominance in WWE as Luke Harper and Erick Rowan defeated Kofi Kingston and The Miz in a tag team match. Harper was the star of the bout as he scored the pinfall victory over Kingston following a discus clothesline. Backstage reaction to the former Brodie Lee’s performance was met with positive reviews as many of his co-workers were praising his efforts.
