Four Big Matches Announced For WrestleMania XXVI

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

New World Heavyweight champion Chris Jericho came out on this week’s RAW and gloated about his victory at Elimination Chamber. Jericho bragged that he’s in elite class of Superstars who hold two wins over the Undertaker. As Jericho was yelling that he was going to WrestleMania, Edge’s music hit and the Rated R superstar hit the ring and speared Jericho. Jericho left the ring and ran to the outside. Edge grabbed a mic and said he’s also going to WrestleMania – to challenge Chris Jericho.

- Later in the show, Shawn Michaels came out and talked about screwing the Undertaker out of his World Heavyweight title at Elimination Chamber. Undertaker came out and confronted Shawn, telling him he’s finally got his attention. Shawn laid down the challenge once again for a match at WrestleMania and The Undertaker accepted – with the stipulation that if Shawn Michaels is not able to beat him, he must retire. Michaels agreed and the rematch is set.

- John Cena defeated Batista by disqualification in the main event of RAW to earn a World Heavyweight title shot against Batista at WrestleMania.

- Also on RAW, Christian defeated Carlito to qualify for the Money in the Bank match.

WWE Elimination Chamber Results – February 21, 2010

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

WWE Elimination Chamber Results – 2/21/2010
Scott Trade Center in St. Louis, Missouri
Report by: Sean Hopkins of WrestlingNewsWorld.com

We get a video opening highlighting the two Chamber matches that will be taking place tonight for both the World Heavyweight, and WWE Championships. The pyro hits and Michael Cole welcomes us to the PPV. They immediately being hyping WrestleMania, and the ominous structure that is the Elimination Chamber. The Chamber lowers and it looks like we’re going to start out with a Chamber match.

Sheamus vs. Triple H vs. John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Kofi Kingston
WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match

Justin Roberts runs down the rules of the match, John Cena’s music hits, and he is the first man to make his way down to the ring. Cena makes his way into one of the ringside pods, and the referee locks him up. Dibiase is the next man announced, and he makes his way to the ring to a bit of heat. Randy Orton is the third man to make his way to the ring, to a big pop from the crowd. Dibiase stares down Orton from his pod. Triple H is the fourth man announced, and the final man who will be entering a pod, so we know it will be Sheamus and Kofi starting things off tonight. Just a quick personal comment here, Matt Striker is an amazing commentator. We’re not 15 minutes into the PPV and he’s already putting Cole and Lawler to shame. Kofi Kingston is the final challenger to enter the fray. He comes out to a nice reception, leaving only the Champion yet to enter. The WWE Champion Sheamus is out finally, only about 13 minutes into the PPV. Sheamus gets a little bit of heat, but honestly, it seems like even less than Dibiase. Sheamus shows off his belt to everyone locked in the pods, taunting his challengers. The door is closed and locked, and this one is ready to begin.

Sheamus goes for the big kick right off the bat, but Kofi moves and comes back with a flurry of offense of his own. Kofi hits a crossbody for a near fall, and a beautiful dropkick for another near fall. Kofi works over Sheamus with a series of fairly stiff kicks, but it’s still not enough to keep the Champion down. Sheamus comes back with a clubbing blow across Kofi’s back and a knee to the head. Sheamus hits a European uppercut, but Kofi is quick to fight back. Kofi kicks Sheamus square in the chest, but he immediately falls victim to a back elbow and a big shoulder block. Sheamus tries to hip toss Kofi over the ropes, but Kofi lands on his feet, delivers and enzugiri, and executes a springboard crossbody that’s good for a two count. Sheamus reverses a whip into the corner, but he walks right into a big kick from Kofi. Sheamus takes Kofi down to the mat and pounds away on him, he tries for a quick pin, but he can’t hold Kingston down for three. Sheamus tries to choke Kingston and rub his face into the mat. Kofi rolls to the outside and Sheamus follows. Kofi is able to put up a bit of a fight, but Sheamus backs him up into one of the pods and put him down. Sheamus hits a uranage backbreaker, but it’s still not good enough for three.

The timer counts down, and the first entrant into the match is Triple H. Hunter has a big smile on his face. He walks out of the pod and stares Sheamus down. Sheamus and Triple H come toe to toe staring each other down. Sheamus goes for a punch, but Hunter blocks and unloads with a couple of his own. Sheamus goes low with a knee, but it’s not good enough to keep down Hunter, who comes back with a high knee, and a knee drop. Hunter hits a clothesline in the corner, and pounds on Sheamus for a bit, before stomping for a little bit. Hunter hits a short arm clothesline, but it’s only good for a near fall. Hunter throws Sheamus over the top rope out to the steel grate. Hunter tries to throw Sheamus into the Chamber, but Sheamus blocks, Sheamus tries but Hunter blocks and he clotheslines Sheamus over the top rope.

Back in the ring, Sheamus goes for a razor’s edge out of nowhere, but Hunter reverses into a DDT. Kofi is back in and he’s going to work on both men, chopping each before hitting a dropkick on Sheamus, and whipping Hunter into Sheamus in the corner. Kofi launches himself up to hit nine punches on Sheamus in the corner before connecting with a leaping lariat. Kofi hits a slingshot boom drop over the top rope to the outside on Hunter. Sheamus takes Kofi out, out of nowhere, and it’s good for a near fall. The clock ticks down again, and the next entrant is Randy Orton. Orton goes right to work on everyone, then focuses his attention on Sheamus, stomping away. Orton hits a knee drop on Sheamus, and he tries for a cover but he only gets a two count. Orton tosses Sheamus over the top rope and he hits a quick kick to Hunter’s ribs. Orton goes to the outside, where he slams Sheamus against the Chamber wall three times in a row. Hunter comes out and he too goes into the Chamber three times at the hands of Orton. Orton chokes Sheamus with his boot for a bit, before going to work on Hunter with a couple of right hands. Kingston comes out of nowhere with a huge slingshot crossbody. Kingston tries for another springboard crossbody back in the ring on Orton, but Orton counters with a dropkick.

Hunter is now back in this with right hands, and a face buster to Orton, but Orton comes back with a big powerslam. Orton looks to be setting up for the RKO on Hunter. Orton goes for it, but Hunter pushes him into Kofi. Kofi tries for TIP, but Orton ducks. Orton tries for the RKO on Kofi, but Kofi pushes him into an almost pedigree. Orton backdrops Hunter over the top rope to counter, the backdrops Kofi over the top rope. On the outside, Orton goes after Sheamus, but he ends up being backed up into the ring post. The clock counts down again and the next entrant is Ted Dibiase. Dibiase goes right to work on Sheamus, Kingston, then Triple H, hitting Hunter with a couple of fist drops. Dibiase goes over to Orton in the corner and he offers his hand after a bit of a staredown. It looks like Legacy may be working together. Orton and Dibiase go right to work on Hunter, stomping away on him in the corner. They the turn their attention to Sheamus, pounding away, and hitting a series of knees, before Orton throws him shoulder first into the ring post. Dibiase chokes Kingston against the bottom rope. Orton picks up Kofi and he tries to shove Kingston’s head through the Chamber wall, eventually succeeding and wrenching at his neck, before Dibiase locks in a Boston crab while Orton kicks away.

Orton and Hunter trade blows in the middle of the ring, but Dibiase comes in from behind to turn the tide. Orton holds Hunter while Dibiase stomps away at his midsection. Orton tosses Hunter to the outside and he and Dibiase follow. Orgon and Dibiase throw Hunter, back first, into the Chamber wall, before doing it again. Orton goes for his rope assisted DDT, but Dibiase stops him and tells him he should do it on the outside. He sets it up, and he connects, driving Hunter’s head into the steel grate. Legacy stare Cena down outside of his pod, and decide to wait out the last 10 seconds outside of his door. Cena fights his way out with no problem, taking down Dibiase and tossing Orton in the ring before coming alive with a series of flying shoulder blocks and a belly to back suplex. Cena connects with the five knuckle shuffle on Orton, and a throwback and top rope rocker dropper to Dibiase. Cena goes for the AA on Dibiase, using him as a battering ram on Orton. Dibiase grabs the ropes, so Cena AA’s him over the ropes. Orton lightly tosses Cena to the outside, and he follows. Orton tries to send Cena into the Chamber wall, but Cena reverses. Back in the ring, Cena locks in the STF on Dibiase, but Orton is able to break it up and hit his nasty backbreaker.

Cody Rhodes runs down to ringside and tosses a pipe into the Chamber. Orton goes for the RKO on Cena, but Cena reverses into the AA. Dibiase uses the pipe and accidentally hits Orton, then hits Cena. Dibiase looks at both men, and pins Orton, getting the three count.

Orton has been eliminated.

Orton and Dibiase share a staredown while Orton makes his way to the back. Sheamus goes to work on Kofi on the outside, but when he tries to come back in the ring with what looks to be a spinebuster, Kingston reverses, and hits the TIP on Dibiase. Kofi goes for the pin and gets the three.

Dibiase is eliminated.

Right away, Sheamus hits his big boot, follows it up with the razor’s edge, pins Kofi, and gets the three count.

Kingston is eliminated.

Shemus turns his attention to Cena, working him over with strikes. Cena gets Sheamus in AA position out of nowhere, but Sheamus fights out. Sheamus hangs Cena up in the tree of woe, before charging into the corner with a low knee, and following up with a series of knees. Sheamus sets Cena up on the rope rope, and he tries for a rope assisted Razor’s edge, but Hunter is there with a low blow to prevent it. Hunter hits the pedigree, covers Sheamus, and gets the three count.

The Champion has been eliminated.

It’s down to Cena and Hunter and both men are down on the mat. Cena is the first to get up, and he goes right to work with the STF. Hunter furiously tries to reach the ropes, having a lot of trouble. Hunter looks to be fading. Hunter is forced to tap out, and we have a new Champion.

Winner and NEW WWE Champion: John Cena

Vince McMahon’s music hits as soon as the belt is put in Cena’s hands. He congratulates Cena and says he’s going to WrestleMania, just as long as he can defend the championship right now against…

Batista.

Batista’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Cena isn’t even able to make it to his feet without a ton of effort.

John Cena vs. Batista
WWE Championship Match

Batista’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Cena isn’t even able to make it to his feet without a ton of effort. Cena is able to make it to his feet, and stun Batista with a right hand right at the bell, but it doesn’t look to really affect Batista, who comes back with a big spear, and a Batista bomb. Batista goes for the pin, and gets the three count.

Winner and NEW WWE Champion: Batista

Cena looks dejected, and like his back hurts as he makes his way to the back. He stops on the way to look sadly at the WrestleMania banner.

Cole and Lawler speculate for a bit, saying that it’s possible that McMahon set that up because of how Cena supported Bret Hart over the past few weeks. This leads into a video re-cap of the last Bret Hart appearance on Raw with his horrible ‘accident’. Cole says that information is hard to come by, but apparently Bret Hart suffered a broken leg, and some ligament damage.

Drew McIntyre vs. Kane
Intercontinental Championship Match

Tony Chimel is in the ring, and Drew McIntyre is introduced first, to a very apathetic reaction. Kane’s pyro and music hits, and he gets a much lively reaction from the crowd. Kane charges McIntyre right at the bell, but Drew ducks and throws a couple of punches and kicks of his own. Kane hits a chop to the throat, and he takes McIntyre to the corner, working him over with a couple of strikes before hitting a low dropkick. Kane locks in a side headlock and applies pressure to McIntyre. McIntyre fights out, but he’s put right down with a shoulder block. Kane goes right back to work with the headlock. McIntyre fights out again, but this time walks into a swinging neckbreaker that’s good for a two count. Kane charges McIntyre in the corner, but McIntyre avoids it and goes to work on Kane with lefts and rights. McIntyre’s offense is short lived though, as Kane puts him right back down. McIntyre tries to come back again, this time kicking at Kane’s knee, which seems to work for a bit. McIntyre then snaps Kane’s arm across the top rope and he goes to work in the corner with a series of right hands. Drew walks right into a right hand from Kane, but he kicks the knee and goes right back to work on the arm.

McIntyre locks in a top wrist lock, but Kane is able to fight out of it, and launch McIntyre over the top rope to break the hold. Back in the ring, Kane goes for a back body drop, but it allows McIntyre to go right back to work with a kick to the shoulder. McIntyre locks in a modified rear chin lock, grabbing the arm for extra leverage. Kane is able to fight out of it with a series of right hands, and he sends McIntyre into the ropes only to recieve a big boot. McIntyre tries for the underhook DDT, but Kane back body drops him out of it, and hits a big boot of his own, before hitting a running clothesline in the corner. McIntyre is able to hit a back elbow, but when he goes for a high risk move, he jumps into a right hand from Kane. Kane follows up with a big back body drop. Kane goes to the top rope and he connects with the leaping clothesline. Kane tries for the chokeslam, but McIntyre is able to escape out to the ring apron. Kane sends McIntyre into the ring apron, follows out and hits a big boot that sends him to the floor. Kane follows down to the floor, where he sends McIntyre’s head into the ring steps before sending him back in the ring. Kane stomps away at McIntyre, but Drew bails and starts walking up the ramp. Kane follows, but he walks into a right hand. McIntyre tries to send Kane into the barricade, but Kane reverses it, and brings McIntyre back into the ring. Kane tries for the chokeslam again, but McIntyre hits a thumb to Kane’s eye, and connects with the underhook DDT. McIntyre covers Kane, and this one is over.

Winner and STILL WWE Intercontinental Champion: Drew McIntyre

Gail Kim runs into Maryse backstage, who of course talks in French. She translates for herself, saying great things about Kim. Kim says something in French, revealing that she knows Maryse is trashing her in French. She says tonight she’s going to beat Maryse, before walking off.
Maryse vs. Gail Kim
Finals of the Divas Championship Tournament

Maryse is announced first, and she makes her way out to the ring to a little bit of a reaction from the crowd, they seem just a bit dead though. Gail Kim is announced next, and she also doesn’t really get much of a reaction at all. Excuse me, Vickie Guerrero is out to interrupt. She says it has come to her attention that the Raw Divas have had some disparaging comments about the Smackdown Divas, and being a Diva herself, she can say the best Divas are on Smackdown. Further, since she’s the only Diva that has authority in the building, she’s postponing the match, and turning this into a tag-team match. Maryse and Gail Kim will have to team up against Michelle McCool and Layla.

Kim and Layla start things off with Kim hitting a couple of quick arm drags and locking in an arm bar. Kim hits a couple of forearms, but Layla blocks a hip toss and turns it into a pinning predicament. Layla charges Kim in the corner, but Kim is able to avoid it and score a near fall of her own. Maryse goes after Layla, and the referee is distracted, allowing McCool to knock Kim off the apron with a big boot. Layla makes the tag, and her and McCool connect with a double baseball slide. Back in the ring, McCool goes for the pin, and when she can’t get it, she slams Kim’s head against the mat and locks in a rear chin lock. McCool hits a series of knees to Kim’s back, but when she tries for a back body drop, Kim kicks her in the chest and hits a bulldog. Kim starts crawling to her corner, but she pie-faces Kim into McCool who hits a clothesline. McCool hits the Faithbreaker, and rolls it over into the pin.

Winners: Layla and Michelle McCool

After the match, McCool and Layla stare down Maryse, who backs off. Maryse then makes her way back into the ring, and hits the hair flip DDT on Kim.

Josh Matthews is backstage, hyping WWE NXT. He brings along one of the pros, The Miz. He asks how he feels about mentoring Daniel Bryan. Miz says if there’s anyone that can teach Bryan to be a success, it’s him. He basically says the same things he said in his WWE blog, saying that if he listens to him, Bryan will have the look, personality, and charisma to make it in the WWE. MVP is there, he says personality is important, it’s done wonders for both of them, but what’s more important is winning. He says that he and Mark Henry won their tag match, so he won the opportunity to challenge Miz for the US Championship tonight. He says after tonight, he’ll be able to tell his NXT rookie about how he lost the US Title, with personality.

William Regal is announced and he makes his way to the ring, he’s also there to talk about WWE NXT. Along with all of the NXT commercials, this is beginning to feel like one long, expensive commercials. Regal talks about how he’s been chosen as a mentor, and how he has the most experience of anyone. He calls out the crowd for being jerks and giving him the ‘what’ treatment. Regal says he demands respect, and he’s the model of professionalism. He says everyone, even the fans could learn something from him. He’s interrupted however, by Edge’s music.

Edge makes his way to the ring to a big pop from the crowd, who look happy to see him. Regal asks what on Earth Edge wants. Edge says he was listening to Regal droning on and on, and it’s like watching paint dry. He said he thought he’d come out and tell the WWE Universe something they might want to hear. Edge says it was three weeks ago that he won the Royal Rumble, and a chance to be in the main event at WrestleMania, and he gets to choose who he wants to face. Edge says he’ll make that decision tomorrow night on Raw. Edge says tonight he’s here to do something else though. Edge spears Regal, gets a huge pop, and his music hits.

The Miz vs. MVP
United States Championship Match

Miz’s music hits first, and he makes his way to the ring with his three belts (how crazy is that), and the Big Show in tow. MVP is out second, and since fair is fair, he brings Mark Henry along with him. Miz and MVP stare each other down at the bell, with Miz talking smack. MVP responds with a slap to the face and he goes right to work, beating down Miz, sending him into the corner, stomping away at him. MVP hits a couple of knees to Miz’s stomach, slams him down and hits a knee drop. MVP connects with an overhead belly to belly suplex and Miz rolls to the outside. MVP follows, and he slams Miz’s head into the barricade before sending him back into the ring. Miz tries for a quick baseball slide, but MVP avoids it and connects with a clothesline. Back in the ring, Miz hits a back elbow and a kick to the side of the head, before raking at MVP’s face with his boot.

MVP is able to fight back, and he locks in an interesting submission, focusing on Miz’s arms, shoulders and neck. Miz is able to fight out of it as Big Show cheers along. Miz sends MVP into the corner and MVP tries for some kind of headscissors, but Miz comes back with a pretty cool looking gut buster. Miz chokes MVP against the middle rope, before running and jumping into MVP, hanging him up against the rope. Miz tries for the cover, but he can only get two. Miz locks in a rear chin lock, but MVP is able to fight out of it, only to be taken right back down to the mat. MVP comes up with a small package out of nowhere, but Miz kicks out at two and comes back with a running knee. MVP comes up with another quick pin, but Miz kicks out at two and again goes right back to work, stomping, then punching MVP. Miz kicks at MVP’s head, and MVP responds with a huge right hand out of nowhere. MVP buries his shoulder in Miz’s midsection in the corner, but Miz is able to send MVP into the corner and hit a big clothesline that’s good for a two count.

Miz locks in what looks to be a single arm camel clutch, but MVP fights out of it and hits an electric chair drop, bridging into a cover that’s good for two. Miz and MVP trade blows, with Miz kicking at MVP’s knee and hitting a low DDT that’s good for a two count. Miz locks in the submission again, but MVP stands up and backs Miz into the corner. MVP charges Miz in the corner, but Miz gets a boot up, then kicks MVP in the ribs. Miz chokes MVP against the bottom rope, before hitting a kick to the side of the face. Show jaws at MVP while he stands up. Miz hits his running dropkick in the corner, before climbing to the top rope. MVP is able to run into the ropes, throwing Miz off balance and crotching him on the top turnbuckle. MVP tries for a superplex, but Miz is able to fight it off, sending MVP down with a headbutt. Miz sets himself again, and MVP charges up, launching Miz with a super belly to belly suplex. MVP goes for the cover, but he only gets two.

Miz looks to have busted his head open. MVP is a house of fire as he fights off Miz. MVP connects with the ballin elbow, and he goes for the cover, but Miz gets his foot on the rope. Big show pulls Miz to the outside, and MVP responds by hitting a baseball slide into Big Show’s back. Show and Henry get into it on the outside, and Henry ends up charging through one of the ringside barricades. MVP is abel to hit a series of forearms on Miz, but he misses the Yakuza kick. Miz tries to take advantage, distracting the ref. Big Show hits the knockout punch on MVP. Miz covers MVP and this one is over.

Winner and STILL US Champion: The Miz

The paramedics make their way down to the ring after the match and they go right to work looking over… MVP, and not the Miz who is busted open.

The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio vs. John Morrison vs. R-Truth
World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match

The Chamber is lowered again, and we’re ready to start the final match of the evening. Rey Mysterio’s music hit, and with the pyro, he’s out to a big pop from the crowd. John Morrison is the second man to make his way to the ring, to a decent reaction from the crowd. It seems like everyone has taken a lot of extra time stalling tonight, which has really seemed to be a theme of the whole PPV. Chris Jericho is the next entrant to the Elimination Chamber, and he comes out to a bit of a mixed reaction. The World Champion, The Undertaker, is the fourth entrant, and the final man who will be entering a pod. He makes his way out to easily one of the biggest pops of the night. Taker charges down to the Chamber, not wasting any time. CM Punk is the fifth man to the ring, he comes out with Luke Gallows and Sarita by his side, and of course a mic. Punk says he hopes the symbolism isn’t lost on the superstars in the Chamber, because it’s killing him. Four people locked inside a prison, like the prison of addiction that everyone in the arena is locked in every day. Punk says, be sure to remember that he’s not locked in with them, they’re locked in there with him. Punk says tomorrow morning, he wants everyone to remember when their pod door opened, and Punk defeated them, don’t think of it as failure, think of it as Punk saving them and setting them free. Punk tries to get out more about alcohol and medication, but he’s interrupted by R-Truth, who comes out to a (still bafflingly) big pop from the crowd.

Truth asks the fans what’s up, many, many times, before saying Elimination Chamber, that’s what’s up. The cage door is locked, and we’re finally ready to start the final match of the night. Punk and Truth lock up, and Truth locks in a headlock. Punk is quick to fight out of it, but he ends up falling victim to a shoulder block. Punk is quick to respond with a leg lariat and a side belly to back suplex. Punk pounds away at Truth. Punk tries for a clothesline, but Truth ducks it with a splits and connects with a back heel kick. Truth sends Punk to the outside, and he follows, slingshotting Punk into the Chamber, and then slamming his head into Mysterio’s pod. Truth goes up to the middle rope and jumps off with a somersaulting senton to Punk. Truth slams Punk into the Chamber repeatedly and the SES cheer Punk on.

Back in the ring, Punk tries for the G2S, but Truth fights out. Truth tries for the corkscrew elbow, but Punk avoids it. Punk connects with the G2S, and he pins R Truth, getting the three count.

R-Truth has been eliminated.

Punk grabs a mic.

Punk goes to Taker and he says that he better pray to come out last, because he’s going to make him tap out, like he did before. Punk says he’ll prove that Morrison’s rockstar lifestyle is a joke. Punk says tonight he’ll prove that straight edge means he’s better than you, and no one can stop him. The clock counts down, and Mysterio is the next man in the match. Mysterio comes right in with a springboard senton and a slingshot crossbody that’s good for two. Mysterio hits a huge kick to the side of the head for another two count. Mysterio hits the drop toe hold and sets up Punk for the 619, but Punk coes back with a powerslam out of nowhere. Punk tries for the G2S again, but Mysterio counters with a hurricarana into a pin, that’s good for two. Mysterio kicks at Punk’s leg and Punk rolls to the outside. Mysterio follows and he tries for a hurricarana, but Punk counters, holding Mysterio and slamming him into the cage side to side. Back in the ring, Punk tries for the cover, but he can only get two. Punk hits the running knee in the corner, and he taunts Jericho before sending Mysterio headfirst into the ring post, and Chamber pod. Punk tries for another cover, but Mysterio kicks out at two. Mysterio pins Punk, and gets the three.

The clock counts down, and the next man in the match is Jericho. Jericho goes right to work, squaring off with Mysterio and taking advantage of being the fresh man. Jericho tries for the lionsault, but Mysterio rolled out of the way, hits the drop toe hold and connects with the 619. Jericho rolls to the outside and Mysterio tries for a springboard senton but Jericho ducks. Mysterio grabs on and holds onto the cage, but Jericho grabs him by the foot and Mysterio crashes to the Chamber floor. Jericho sends Mysterio into the Chamber wall before sending him back into the ring, hitting a slingshot splash, and getting a near fall. Jericho chokes Mysterio against the second rope, standing on his back. Mysterio tries to get back into with a couple of quick kicks, but Jericho responds with a big forearm, and locks in a modified rear chin lock. Mysterio is able to fight up to his feet, and he ducks a clothesline and hits an asai moonsault, that’s good for a two. Mysterio tries for a hurricarana, but instead turns it into a guillotine choke. Jericho is able to slam him back into the corner to break the hold, and Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring.

The clock counts down and the next man to enter the ring is John Morrison. Morrison’s entry causes Jericho to break the hold, and he and Jericho square off. Morrison turns his attention to Mysterio, throwing Kericho to the outside first. Mysterio tries to fight back, but Morrison connects with a big kick to the face. Morrison goes back to Jericho, he tries for a low knee, but Jericho turns it into a pin for a two count. Jericho slaps Morrison’s face, and he charges him in the corner, but he eats a boot. Morrison goes up top, but Mysterio pushes him back off into one of the pods, breaking some of the glass. Jericho back body drops Mysterio to the outside. Jericho continues to work on Mysterio, and Morrison is back out of nowhere attacking both men. Back in the ring, a standing shooting star press from Morrison to Mysterio is still not enough to put the little man away. Mysterio hurricarana’s Morrison into the ropes and tries for a 619, but Jericho catches him in a spinning backbreaker that’s good for a near fall. Jericho eats a boot from Mysterio in the corner, and the a boot to the face from Morrison. Mysterio hits a headscissors to send Morrison face first into the turnbuckle. Mysterio puts Morrison on the top rope and tries for a hurricarana, but Morrison hangs on, hits starship pain, and gets the three count.

Morrison goes to work on Jericho, but it’s short lived, as Morrison loses his focus, and ends up finding himself in the Walls of Jericho. The clock counts down, and Jericho is in the same position. Undertaker is going crazy as the clock counts down. The pod opens, and Taker goes straight to work on Jericho with some big blows, a splash in the corner, and a slam into the top turnbuckle. Taker sends Morrison over the top rope and connects with a leg drop on Jericho that’s good for two. Taker signals for the chokeslam and he gets Jericho and Morrison in position, but both men fight it off and hit a double dropkick. Morrison and Jericho clothesline Taker over the top rope before turning their attention to each other. Jericho is able to back body drop Morrison over the top rope to the outside to take him out for a bit. Jericho tries to work on Taker, slapping him on the back of the head, but it just fires up Taker. Jericho tries to go into one of the pods, but he just ends up trapped and being beat down by Taker in the pod. Back in the ring, Taker hits a big splash on Morrison, and another. Taker picks up Morrison, and drops him down on the top turnbuckle, but Morrison responds right back with a springboard kick. Morrison looks to have hurt his ankle. Morrison goes for starship pain, but Taker gets his knees up.

Undertaker sits up, and Jericho is stopped right in his tracks, retreating into back into the pod. Taker sends Morrison over the top rope, and follows to the outside, working over Morrison with big right hands and kicks. Taker slams Morrison into the pod that Jericho is in, destroying the door. The crowd chants for one more, but instead, Taker gets Morrison in Last Ride position. Jericho spears Taker, and Morrison grabs on to the cage. Taker charges Jericho, but he ends up running through one of the pods. Morrison leaps off of the cage on top of Jericho and everyone is down. Morrison hits a shining wizard in the ring, but it’s only good for two. From the outside, Taker grabs Morrison by the throat, and brings him over the top, to the outside with a chokeslam. Back in the ring, Taker pins Morrison, and gets the three count.

Morrison has been eliminated.

Taker pulls down the straps, and Jericho looks pretty intimidated. Taker tells Jericho to bring it on, and Jericho is slow to make it back into the ring. Taker goes right to work, throwing big right hands at Jericho, trapping him in the corner, and throwing some more. Taker hits a knee in the corner, but when he goes for another, Jericho moves and Taker ends up hung up on the top rope. Jericho goes up and tries for the superplex, connecting. Jericho goes for the pin, but Taker is able to kick out at two. Jericho hits a knee drop, and goes to work throwing right hands into the face of Undertaker. Jericho kicks at Taker’s head, but another attempt and Taker catches him by the throat. Taker goes for the chokeslam, but Jericho rolls through, trying for the Walls, Undertaker is almost able to counter into Hell’s gate, but Jericho ultimately locks in the Walls of Jericho. Taker is able to roll over to his back and lock in Hell’s gate, but he can’t get it on quite right and Jericho is able to roll out of the ring. Taker sits right back up, and he picks Jericho up, into tombstone position. Jericho fights out of it and is able to connect with the codebreaker. Jericho crawls over and is able to pin Taker, but Taker kicks out at two. Jericho picks Taker up and sends him into the corner, trying to work him over with shoulders and right hands. Taker counters, grabbing Jericho, and connecting with the Last Ride, and both men are down.

Taker is first to his feet, and he signals that the end is near. HBK comes up out of a hidden panel in the Chamber floor, and he connects with Sweet Chin Music on the Undertaker. Jericho pins The Undertaker, and he gets the three count.

Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Chris Jericho

After the match, Michaels stares down at Taker, while Jericho celebrates with his belt and makes his way to the back. The show ends with Michaels standing tall over a prone Undertaker.

TNA Against All Odds Results – 2/14/2009
Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida
Report by: Sean Hopkins of WrestlingNewsWorld.com

Ric Flair storms in the Impact Zone upset about getting in a car wreck last week. He’s also mad that Bischoff is going to be the referee tonight. Flair says he hates Bischoff’s guts and tonight, he’s going to make Bischoff pay him the respect he owes. Flair says he’s a God around here. Flair says he’s looking for Bischoff, OR ELSE.

We get the usual video package that normally opens the show. This package highlights the 8 Card Stud Tournament. The winner of the Tournament will become the #1 Contender, and get a shot at Lockdown next month. There’s also a bit about the Championship match between Joe and Styles thrown in for good measure. The pyro hits and Mike Tenay welcomes us to Against All Odds. He immediately begins to hype the Championship match with Eric Bischoff as referee. He also hypes the 8 Card Stud Tournament, which will open the show. Desmond Wolfe’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring.

Desmond Wolfe vs. D’Angelo Dinero
Quarterfinal Match

Pope’s music hits and he’s out next to a warm reception from the crowd. The bell rings, and both men circle each other. Pope is getting huge chants. Pope and Wolfe chain wrestle for a bit, but Wolfe pushes Dinero into the ropes, causes a break, and cheap shots him with an elbow. Wolfe locks in an interesting submission, but Pope quickly reverses. Wolfe fights out, but neither man can gain an advantage. Wolfe hits a big European uppercut, but he walks right into a series of elbows and a big forearm from Pope. Wolfe comes back with a shoulderblock, but quickly falls victim to a flying forearm. Wolfe tosses Pope out to the floor, and catches him by surprise, but when he goes for a Tower of London, Pope fights out. Wolfe begins to work over Pope’s arm and shoulder, locking in a modified rear chin lock with an arm bar. Pope begins to fight back with a couple of chops, but Wolfe responds with a quick DDT that’s good for a near fall. Pope hits a slam, but Wolfe locks on and hangs on to a cravat. Pope eventually fights out, but Wolfe catches him with a boot. Pope comes right back with a series of forearms, and an inverted atomic drop. A flying forearm drops Wolfe, and when he gets up, he walks into a bitch slap. Pope hits the Coronation, and he goes to the top rope. Pope hits a flying cross body but it’s only good for two.

Wolfe catches Dinero on the top rope and he goes for the tower of London, but Dinero fights it off. Wolfe hits a Mongolian chop and hits a superplex instead. He goes for the pin but he can only get two. Wolfe looks to be getting frustrated. Wolfe goes for the lariat, but Dinero ducks it and catches him with a roll up for two. Wolfe chops away at Pope in the corner, but when he chargers him, Pope moves, and Dinero hits a rope assisted neck breaker. Pope hits the double knees to the back, and goes for the pin. The ref counts three, and this one is over.

Winner and Moving on in the 8 Card Stud Tournament: D’Angelo Dinero

Flair is shown walking around backstage and he walks into Bischoff’s office. He asks what makes Bischoff think he can make himself the special referee. Flair says Bischoff thinks he’s God, but the only Wrestling God in TNA is Flair. If Eric wants to do anything he needs to go through Flair since he’s Style’s manager. Bischoff says that Flair is pissed off because his boy is in a match with Samoa Joe and a ref that he can’t buy. Flair says he doesn’t need to buy the ref because Styles has Flair and that’s all he needs. Bischoff says he’s going to call it down the middle and Flair needs to keep his distance. Flair backs off and leaves the office.

JB is backstage, with Hernandez and Matt Morgan, the next two men to go into battle in the 8 Card Stud Tournament. Hernandez says they’re facing each other by luck of the draw, and they’re making the most of this opportunity. Morgan says they’re going to be the tag champs for a long time, but how could they not jump at the opportunity for a World Title match. Morgan says they want to have a match for bragging rights to see who’s better. He wishes Hernandez good luck and they walk away.

Hernandez vs. Matt Morgan
Quarterfinal Match

Hernandez is out first, followed by Morgan. Both men get nice pops from the crowd on their way to the ring. Both men give each other a fist bump before locking up. Morgan backs Hernandez up into the corner and breaks clean. They lock up again and this time Hernandez backs Morgan up, also breaking clean. Another fist bump, another lock up and Morgan locks in a headlock, but Hernandez fights out. Morgan puts Hernandez down with shoulder block, then another, but a third attempt and Hernandez knocks Morgan down instead. Hernandez sends Morgan into the ropes and Morgan tries for the Carbon footprint but he can’t get it. Hernandez tries for a border toss but Morgan fights out. Morgan hits the rapid fire elbows in the corner and Hernandez goes down. Hernandez tries for a high risk move, and it looks like someone botches it, but they recover quickly when Morgan connects with a big lariat. Morgan hits a big splash in the corner, and then another, and he follows up with a side slam, but Hernandez kicks out at two. Hernandez begins to fight back, but he eats an elbow and finds himself back on the canvas. Morgan chokes Hernandez on the ropes, and he hits a big leg drop, launching himself over the top rope. Morgan hits a big leg drop on the apron reminiscent of the Undertaker, but it’s only good for a two count.

Morgan hits a couple of short arm clotheslines but he still can’t keep Hernandez down. Morgan locks in a chin lock, but Hernandez fights out of it, but quickly goes down to a clubbing blow across the back. Hernandez reverses an Irish whip, and slingshots over the top rope, catching Morgan with a big shoulder block and both men are down. Hernandez is fired up, he hits a series of clotheslines, a big splash, and a spinebuster, but he can’t keep Morgan down for three. Hernandez hits a huge delayed vertical suplex holding Morgan up for a ridiculous amount of time. Morgan rolls out to the entrance ramp. Hernandez launches himself over the ropes and connects with Morgan, but he immediately falls to the floor and grabs at his shoulder.

Morgan won’t allow Hernandez to get counted out, and he holds the ropes to let him back in the ring. Morgan immediately locks in a hammerlock, throws Hernandez into the corner, and grabs the tights for a pin. Mogan gets the three count.

Winner and Moving on in the 8 Card Stud Tournament: Matt Morgan

Hernandez doesn’t look to happy with Morgan as he makes his way to the back.

Christy Hemme is backstage with Kurt Angle. Angle says he has to apologize to Hogan. He says since Hogan arrived in TNA, he doubted his agenda, but he proved himself to Angle on Thursday when he saved him from Hall and Syxx Pac, he says he’ll never doubt Hogan again. As far as his match with Mr. Anderson tonight, he says he’s going to mow through the Tournament, and become the #1 Contender, and that starts with Ken Anderson. Angle says he’s going to introduce Anderson to TNA the only way he knows how, by beating him in the middle of the ring.

Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle
Quarterfinal Match

Mr. Anderson makes his way to the ring first to a bit of an apathetic reaction from the crowd. The mic lowers, and Anderson does his whole ring introductions schtick. Angle is out next, to a huge pop from the crowd. The bell rings and we’re ready to kick this one off. The crowd is solidly behind Angle. Anderson catches Angle with a kick, but Angle shrugs it off, and on the next attempt, goes for the ankle lock. Anderson is able to make it to the ropes though, preventing the hold. Angle connects with a headlock takedown on Anderson, taking him to the mat and holding on. Anderson fights up to his feet, but quickly falls victim to a shoulderblock, and another side headlock. Anderson is finally able to fight out with a couple of big blows to Angle’s back. Anderson chokes Angle with his boot, but that fires up Angle who responds with a back body drop and a snap suplex, but it’s only good for a two count. Angle takes Anderson to the corner, and he hits exactly 10 punches before backing off, and whipping Anderson into the other corner. Angle charges Anderson in the corner, but Anderson moves and Angle connects with the ring post.

Anderson grabs a chain that Angle wears around his neck, and rubs it across Angle’s forehead, cutting him open. Anderson punches away at him in the corner, but Angle fights back, only to walk into a big DDT. Anderson goes for the pin but it’s only good for two. Anderson stomps away at Angle and locks in a rear chin lock, wrenching away. Angle is able to fight his way up to his feet and out of the hold, with a series of elbows and right hands. Angle takes Anderson down with a couple of clotheslines, and a huge belly to belly suplex. Angle tries for the cover but only gets two. Angle is whipped into the corner, but he explodes out with a big lariat that’s good for another near fall. Angle hits a big release German suplex and he holds on, connecting with a second, and a third. Angle tries for the Angle slam, but he can’t get it. Anderson connects with a Finlay roll, and it’s good for a two count. Anderson goes to the corner, and goes to work, trying to tear away at the turnbuckle. He distracts the ref, and unties the opposite turnbuckle. He tries to send Angle into the turnbuckle, but Angle blocks it and responds with an Angle slam. Angle goes for the cover but Anderson kicks out at two.

Angle locks in the ankle lock, but Anderson is able to kick him off. Angle charges Anderson, but he ends up running head first into the exposed turnbuckle. Anderson uses this to his advantage and hits the mic check. Anderson goes for the pin, gets three, and this one’s over.

Winner and Moving on in the 8 Card Stud Tournament: Mr. Anderson

After the match, Anderson brings Angle his medal, and spits in his face before walking to the back.

Bischoff is backstage with Abyss and Mick Foley. Bischoff says he hopes both men understand, but running a wrestling company is tough. He’s responsible to put on the best card he can, and he needs to ensure no games. He tells Foley and Abyss to go at it like it’s their last match, because if he suggests any kind of gamesmanship, Abyss will lose his mask. Foley says that’s not going to be a problem, but how do he and Abyss know Bischoff isn’t going to be unfair when it comes to their match. Bischoff says that it will be a No DQ match, and he wants to give the fans an opportunity to watch each man beat each other. He says if no one uses a barbed wire bat, Abyss’ mask will be gone.

Abyss vs. Mick Foley
Quarterfinal Match

Abyss is the first man to make his way to the ring, and he looks a lot less concerned than he did just a couple of seconds ago in Bischoff’s office. He gets a good reaction, anyway. Foley’s music hits, and he makes his way out to the ring carrying the barbed wire baseball bat. Foley gets a respectable reaction from the crowd. Abyss looks concerned again. The bell rings, and both men lock up. Abyss locks in a head lock, but Foley fights it off, only to get hit with a big shoulder block. Foley goes for the bat, but Abyss knocks him down and kicks it away. Abyss beats on Foley in the corner before hitting a big splash. Abyss picks up the bat, and the crowd wants him to use it, but he throws it down. Abyss says he can’t do it. Foley slaps him in the face. He does it again, and three more times before hitting a couple of forearms. Abyss responds with a couple of forearms of his own that send Foley to the floor. Abyss follows out, but he’s quickly thrown into the barricade. Foley grabs a chair and whacks Abyss across the back.

Foley slams Abyss’ head into the ring steps, and screams at him. Back in the ring, Foley grabs the bat, but charging Abyss, Abyss gets his foot up and knock Foley away. Abyss chokes Foley against the ropes, but he lets his guard down and gets hit with a spinning neck breaker. Foley pounds on Abyss in the corner, hitting a series of forearms. Foley hits a running knee, and goes for a bag in the corner, with lots of thumbtacks. Foley spreads the tacks across the canvas. Foley pounds on Abyss and Abyss teases falling in the tacks. Foley charges, but Abyss catches him in chokeslam position, he takes him away from the tacks before slamming him down though. Abyss goes for the pin, but he only gets two.

Abyss takes the trademark sock away from Foley, and he puts it on, but he immediately gets caught with a double arm DDT. Foley goes for the referee, taking off his shoe, and stealing his sock, but when he goes for the mandible claw, Abyss catches him with one of his own. Foley applies his own, and Abyss looks to be fading fast. Foley lets go of the hold before the referee can drop Abyss’ hand three times. Foley grabs the bat, but when he goes for Abyss, he walks right into a black hole slam into the tacks. Abyss goes for the pin, and he gets three.

Winner and Moving on the the 8 Card Stud Tournament:Abyss

After the match, Abyss checks on Foley, looking very upset and helping him remove some of the tacks from his back.

Christy Hemme is backstage with the Nasty Boys. Knobs says they know why they’re there. They’ve been friends with Hogan for years, and Hogan called them up and told them to show all the tag teams in TNA how it’s done. Saggs says the Nasty Boys aren’t bottom feeders, they go right to the top, and 3D is the top. Saggs says if they can’t beat 3D, why are they even there. Knobs says that Team 3D is going to Nastyville.

Team 3D vs. The Nasty Boys
Tag Team Match

The Nasty Boys make their way to the ring first, and this match is announced as a Grudge match (isn’t this their first meeting ever?). The crowd doesn’t look too thrilled to see the Nasties. Team 3D get a much warmer reacting from the crowd on their way to the ring. 3D rush the ring, but the Nasties are waiting, and the immediately begin the beat down on Ray and D-Von. I’m not sure if normal tag team rules apply of if this one will be tornado rules. Everyone is just brawling right now and the referee is standing around. 3D begin to come back, sending Knobs to the floor and taking Saggs out with a double clothesline. Saggs retreats to the floor, and the Nasties try to regroup.

The Nasties circle the ring, but 3D refuses to follow. The Nasty Boys finally make their way back to the apron, and this one looks like it will be traditional tag team rules. Ray and Sags are going to start things off. Sags takes Ray down with a knee, and he rakes at his eyes in the corner, before hitting a charging clothesline. Knobs takes in, but Ray fights back with a series of quick rights, only to fall victim to a poke to the eye. Sags tags in, and the Nasties signal for their armpit spot from 20 years ago. Ray fights out and makes the tag to D-Von, they take down Sags with a double clothesline, but Knobs pulls Sags to the floor. Sags finally makes his way back into the ring after a long break (how blown up are the Nasties already?). Sags tags out to Knobs, and D-Von is able to fight out, taking Knobs down with a clothesline. D-Von goes after Sags, but he’s caught with a low bridge, and he falls to the floor. Sags chokes D-Von on the floor while Knobs distracts the ref. Ray comes in from nowhere and knocks Sags down hard. Back in the ring, Knobs takes D-Von down with a slam and hits a big elbow. Sags tags in, and the Nasties hit a double shoulderblock.

D-Von begins to fight back against Sagas with a series of right hands, but Sags hits D-Von with a quick kick to take him down and prevent a tag. Ray loses his cool and that allows for a Nasties double team. Knobs is in now, and he locks in an abdominal stretch. Knobs adds extra pressure with a couple of big blows and he tags in Sags. Sags rakes D-Vons eyes, and the Nasties try for a double team, but D-Von ducks a charging Knobs and clotheslines Sags. D-Von makes the tag to Ray who comes in and cleans house.

Ray splashes both Nasties in the corner, and he tries for a uranage, but Sags doesn’t seem willing to take it. 3D hit the Wassup headbutt on Knobs, and follow it up with a 3D on Sags. Jimmy Hart is there and he gives Knobs a foreign object. Knobs hits Ray, reverses the pin, and the referee sees it and counts to three. This one’s over.

Winners: The Nasty Boys

It looks like Jimmy Hart has made his way to TNA.

Bischoff is backstage with Samoa Joe, he says tonight is a whole new ballgame. Joe says he knows, the most important thing is for a company to have a champion it can believe in, and AJ Styles is not that man. Bischoff says he and Flair have more history than he cares to discuss, and he doesn’t want to see Flair’s boy with the championship, but with the stripes on, he feels like he has to call it down the middle. Joe says if Bischoff takes care of Flair, he’ll take care of AJ. Bischoff says Joe needs to keep control of his temper, take care of AJ, and he’ll take care of everything else.

D’Angelo Dinero vs. Matt Morgan
Semifinal Match

Pope is on his way out to the ring first, once again decked out in all his ring gear (the mask too). Morgan is out second, also once again donning his robe. Both men get a decent reaction, but the Pope seems more popular. The bell rings, and this one’s ready to go. Both men lock up, and Morgan uses his power to toss Pope back immediately. Another lock up, and we get the same result. Morgan points out the size difference. Ppe ducks a lock up and kicks away at Morgan’s leg. Morgan shoves him away, but Pope won’t stop. Morgan eventually tosses Pope over the top rope. Morgan follows , and he slams Pope right into the ring apron. Morgan tosses Dinero back into the ring, and he follows, but Pope responds with a couple of quick strikes to the midsection. Morgan puts him right down, and into the corner, where he hits the rapid fire elbows. Morgan hits a big splash, and gets Pope into side slam position before just simply dropping him. Morgan chokes Dinero by stepping on his throat, and he follows it up by choking him on the top rope and hitting a leaping leg drop. Morgan rolls back into the ring and locks in a big bear hug. Pope looks to be fading, but he comes back with a big elbow to the head, a kick to the knee, and a dropkick to the knee. Dinero goes for a cross body, but Morgan catches him, and hits a fall away slam. Morgan goes for the cover, but he only gets two. Morgan picks up Pope, but Pope counters with a DDT out of nowhere and both men are down.

Both men get back to their feet and Pope gets the advantage with a fiery series of forearms and a big elbow to the side of the head. Pope slaps Morgan, but it just makes him angry. Pope drop toe holds Morgan into the ropes, but going for the Coronation, Morgan hits a huge lariat. Morgan goes for the pin, but Pope kicks out at two. Morgan looks shocked. Morgan pounds on Pope in the corner, hitting a series of headbutts. Morgan tries for the Carbon footprint in the corner, but Dinero dodges it and Morgan is hung up. Pope connects with the double knees, goes for the pin, and this one is over.

Winner and Advancing to the Finals of the 8 Card Stud Tournament: D’Angelo Dinero

JB is backstage with Mr. Anderson. Anderson makes JB repeat several times that Anderson beat Kurt Angle before saying no, that he destroyed Angle. Anderson says that he beat Abyss a month ago at Genesis, and he’s going to go all the way tonight and grab the title shot, then the title at Lockdown. He says he’s the guy they call Mr. Anderson… Anderson (of course interrupting JB).

Mr. Anderson vs. Abyss
Semifinal Match

I just want to comment quickly that the background music for the Tournament tonight is absolutely terrible.

Abyss makes his way out to the ring first, to a nice reaction from the crowd. He looks a little more confident than he did in his first match of the night. Anderson is out to the ring next, and the crowd really just doesn’t seem to care. Anderson doesn’t introduce himself this time, instead we go straight into the match. Both men lock up and Abyss tosses Anderson in the corner. Anderson ducks a lock up and hits a couple of kicks, chops and punches, but when he tries to whip Abyss, he ends up finding himself being whipped. Anderson tries for a cross body, but Abyss isn’t moved. Anderson calls for a test of strength, but he slaps Abyss instead. Anderson goes for a body slam, but Abyss doesn’t budge, and slams Anderson instead. Abyss hits Anderson with a big boot to the face, and he clotheslines him over the top rope to the floor. Abyss follows Anderson to the floor, and he slams his head into the ring steps. Anderson catches Abyss with a low knee, and he tries to slam Abyss into the barricade, but Abyss blocks it, instead sending Anderson into the barricade. Abyss sends Anderson back into the ring, and he goes for a splash in the corner, but Anderson gets the elbow up and hits a dropkick to the knee. Anderson pounds away at Abyss with a couple of right hands.

Anderson tries to rip of Abyss’ mask, but Abyss backs him up into the corner and prevents it. Anderson chop blocks Abyss’ knee and chokes away at him in the corner. Anderson ties Abyss’ knee up in the ropes and pounds away at it, before hitting a running dropkick straight to the knee. Anderson charges in again, but he finds himself in chokeslam position. Anderson fights out, but walks into a back body drop. Abyss hits Anderson with a couple of big right hands, and a splash in the corner before following up with a side slam, but it’s only good for a two count. Abyss tries for the shock treatment, and even with Anderson ripping t the mask, he hits it, but he can’t keep Anderson down for the three count. Anderson kicks at Abyss’ knee, and he climbs to the middle rope. Anderson jumps off, but gets caught in chokeslam position. Anderson messes with Abyss’ mask, blinding Abyss and almost causing him to chokeslam the referee. Anderson kicks the back of Abyss’ leg, hits the mic check, and pins Abyss, scoring the three count.

Winner and Advancing to the Finals of the 8 Card Stud Tournament: Mr. Anderson

Christy Hemme is backstage with AJ Styles, and AJ says obviously Hemme wanted to be with he Valentine. Styles says he’s beat Joe before, and he’ll beat him again. Styles spouts off a ton of stuff about how he’s the greatest wrestler ever, before talking about how expensive his earring is. The camera pans over and Flair says he feels better because he knows Bischoff will call the match down the middle.

AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe
TNA Championship Match

I think it’s kind of goofy to have this match now and have the Tournament finals close out the show (sorry to any Anderson/Dinero lovers out there). Taz and Tenay run down the tale of the tape, this match would look to be going in AJ’s favor, except for the fact that Bischoff will be the special referee. Eric Bischoff is shown backstage. He runs into Hogan. Hogan says he knows what Bischoff is up to, 15 years of animosity, Eric needs to let it go. Bischoff says it’s over. Hogan says the talent has to depend on him and Bischoff, so it’s up to Eric to call it down the middle, even if he doesn’t want to. Bischoff looks really disappointed and says ‘dammit’. Bischoff is the first man out to the ring, to a somewhat mixed reaction. Samoa Joe is shown backstage walking toward the entrance ramp, pounding on his Feast or Fired briefcase. His music hits, and Joe makes his way to the ring, to a warm reception.

Styles is shown backstage being hyped up by Flair. Styles is in a robe reminiscent of one of Flair’s signature robes, only with a hood. Flair says AJ is Stylin’ and Profilin’. Styles music hits and the Champion makes his way to the ring with Flair in tow. AJ still gets a pretty good reaction from the crowd. JB is in the ring to do formal ring introductions for both men (it’s good to see him back on screen and back in the ring doing big time introductions).
