Jerome’s ECW hi’s, low’s and more

This is the second week in a row I found myself to have watched ECW on SyFy. The shows actually have not been that bad. This week’s show again kept my attention. The show opened up with William Regal still thinking he was the Interim General Manager. Regal made himself the #1 Contender for the ECW Championship. Zack Ryder then comes out to interrupt, followed by Christian with his great comedy mic skills bringing out a “janitor” who he says did a big accomplishment by cleaning all the toilets in the upper section of the arena. He also brought out Tony Atlas who did his goofy laugh, then Christian said he (Atlas) made a lot of accomplishments, and also Yoshi Tatsu who he claimed should be the #1 Contender. (Christian calling William Regal “Bill” was classic.) Then Tiffany, the “real GM” comes out with her left arm in a cast.
The in ring action this week was enjoyable, but predicable with the exception of the Yoshi Tatsu/William Regal match up. After losing last week , I expected Regal to win, but he lost this week under controversial circumstances with his foot under the rope. Regal argued the call and yep, the ref did not see that foot under the rope, but everyone who saw the replay saw it. Doesn’t Tiffany, the ECW General Manager have access to a monitor? If I were to have written the show, I would have made Tiffany review the film and re-start the match, and still would have had Yoshi win because no one would expect it.
The Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov vs. Goldust and Tommy Dreamer match was nothing to sneeze at. I did like Dreamer’s leap onto Kozlov. It did spark some ECW chants from the live crowd in Trenton, NJ. Jackson is big and I like him. He has potential to hopefully be bigger star on either RAW or SmackDown in the future.
Zach Ryder has potential to be a star. I guess in order to keep the #1 contender feud for the ECW Championship going, the match had to end in a DQ with Regal’s boys’, Jackson and Kozlov getting involved in the match.
Tiffany, the GM is a nice looking young girl. I do not know much about her in ring ability down at WWE Developmental (FCW) in Florida, other than she broke her arm during a match and the WWE made a storyline that she was in a car accident. But what I do know, is she doesn’t act very well. The WWE must have enough confidence in her to improve as they have kept her on WWE TV for some time now as the ECW GM.
New ECW/SmackDown ring announcer Lauren Meyhew is a nice looking young lady with a nice voice. No I would not be the perfect announcer, but the WWE should have her announce at FCW for a while to get some practice before starting on big time WWE TV.
Overall, ECW is not a bad show. ECW is not the extreme it was under Paul Heyman, but a good place for young talent to start after they come up from FCW. There is talent on the roster who have the potential to go to RAW or SmackDown. The Hart Dynasty is the perfect example, who should in my opinion be the Unified Tag Champions right now, or the WWE should have created an ECW Tag Team Championship and gave it to the Harts.’
