Jerome’s thoughts on RAW, ECW, IMPACT & Hogan/TNA signing

RAW was a fun show this week with both Kyle Busch and Joey Lagano hosting. Our cable provider does have both the west and east coast USA feed, so I get RAW at 6:00 PT and 9:00 PT. I am a NASCAR fan thanks to my five year old son who has been watching it since he was three. I thought the exchange with Busch, Lagano, Jericho and Show was entertaining. Both Busch and Lagano generated some good heat from the live crowd. I don’t mind John Cena as the WWE Champion, as long as they find a new feud for him. The more I am watching the WWE more consistently again, I am really enjoying seeing a PG product again. I wished I had tuned more than I have in the past. I realize the WWE has been PG since mid 2008 (but I had been still mainly into TNA, but have grown tired of the TV-14DLV stuff)The match of night for me was the main event, Triple H and the Big Show. It was a fun old school Lumber Jack match meant to get the crowd going crazy which it did as the fans in Buffalo were really into it. I thought Chris Jericho sneaking out through the crowd before the match with the Bragging Rights trophy was classic.
If you missed the Christian vs. Yoshi match on ECW for their championship title is a must see. ECW is quickly becoming a show to watch each week, at least for me. I think William Regal, Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov have great chemistry as a faction. It was a good move for the WWE to put them on ECW.
I had to go online to at least see the debut of Nigel McGinness in TNA last Thursday who is now known as Desmond Wolfe, which I thought was very done. It has been a long time since TNA has actually pulled off a great debut of another talent coming from another promotion. I did end up watching some of last week’s IMPACT as well. I do like the ring entrance graphics with the wrestler’s name, height, weight, years as a pro and finishing move. That does give the show a more sports oriented feel. The buzz this week is Hulk Hogan signing with TNA. Hogan is just coming off back surgery and an unfortunate nasty divorce. It will be interesting to see what the IMPACT ratings do this week and over time, especially with our sources saying that Eric Bischoff will appear with the Hulk. Hogan is in his late 50’s, but still looks very good for his age. This week will be a video debut only from what I understand. If TNA plays their cards right, they can promote the Hogan’s Australia tour who has signed Ric Flair. The rumors have already begun about the possibility of Flair coming into TNA. WOW, it is WCW Monday Nitro all over again!?!, accept in the form of TNA IMPACT?
Bischoff and his partner, Jason Hervey (formally of the Wonder Years) may have hit the jackpot to be able to produce on SPIKE the Hogan/Flair reality show that has been rumored. Our sources are also saying that another big announcement from TNA is coming soon. My guess is that they will be moving IMPACT to Monday Night’s to revive the Monday Night War. The only way I think TNA can succeed is to go live and not taped. It will be interesting to see if Hogan, Bischoff and Hervey put some money forward to offset costs and even maybe try to buy into the company depending on the status of Jeff Jarrett. I will tune in over the next few weeks’ as I am curious to see what transpires on TV. The big question is can Hogan and Vince Russo exist, or is Vince on his way out? Time will tell.
