Linda’s Thoughts - Unforgiven Predictions

Published September 6th, 2008 in Columns, Headlines, PPV

This is one time that I wish my column was about Smackdown, but today I’m giving you my predictions for Unforgiven. Let me just say that I thought Smackdown was an excellent show with very little that I didn’t like. And every show this week has gotten me more and more ready for Unforgiven. Chalk this up to another week where all three shows came off well. Hey if you missed Smackdown but recorded it make sure you watch it, I really don’t think you will be disappointed. Okay let me get right to my picks for tomorrow’s show. I want to start off with one segment that is not a match but I caught something last night watching Smackdown and well let me start with it and I’ll explain.

As I said there was very little that I didn’t like about Smackdown, but one segment that I thought was rather ridiculous was having the Undertaker describe what he’s going to do to Vickie on Sunday. And to sum up Taker’s promo? He plans to kill her. This wasn’t a good segment at all and I think not having Taker on the show would have been better than having him go into detail about what he has in store for Vickie. But, what I think is going to happen is the following, While it looks like Vickie’s days are numbered, what I see is Big Show aligning himself with Guerrero and going after Taker. Now I don’t know if this will lead to a match tomorrow night, but I do see a Big Show/Taker feud starting up. The reason I have Big Show in here is because on Smackdown he wanted to take on Kozlov and just as the match was going to start Vickie abruptly put an end to it by screaming like a banshee at Kozlov who left the ring and Big Show who eventually walked away with a look of anger, yet the look didn’t convince me that he was really pissed with Vickie. It all seemed very obvious that Big Show was just going through the motions and that on Sunday he will be on Vickie’s side and go after the Undertaker. So while Taker might have thoughts of murdering Vickie, Big Show will save her and the feud will start. And if I’m way off on this, I hope none of you will ever bring it up again. Seriously I just have a feeling that Big Show turns heel.

Divas Championship Match – Maryse vs. Michelle McCool
Hey is it me or is McCool starting to get annoying? Did you happen to see her come out on Smackdown while Maryse was going up the ramp and just stand there and smile in a creepy surgery sweet way? Giving the Women’s title to McCool I’m starting to think wasn’t a smart move and I do not see her losing tomorrow night. Hopefully this match will be short, and if it is it should come off okay. I really don’t get how Maryse got this spot, but then again nothing surprises me in the WWE, well almost nothing.
Winner: Michelle McCool

World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase vs. Cryme Tyme
Now this one should be a good match, with some decent wrestling. While I could see Cryme Tyme winning, I still feel that DiBiase and Rhodes need to hold on to their titles for a little longer and keep this feud going with Cryme Tyme. And then have Cryme Tyme eventually beating this duo. I’m happy to see all four part of a pay per view for a change.
Winner: Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes

ECW Championship Scramble – Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy vs. Finlay vs. Chavo vs. The Miz
This group has been awesome on ECW and I don’t see any reason why they won’t win us over tomorrow night. I think we are in for a solid match here and I’m leaning towards two guys to leave with the title. It’s between Henry and Hardy. Now I don’t care which guy wins because Henry has done a very good job as the champion, yet Matt Hardy as ECW’s champ could really bring a lot to the show. This is where I need to toss a coin that’s how unsure I am about whom to go with. Okay heads Henry, tails Hardy. And I’m going with Matt Hardy. Really I didn’t toss a coin I’m going with Hardy because I don’t see Triple H or CM Punk losing, so I am thinking one champion HAS to lose tomorrow.
Winner: Matt Hardy

Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
Do you guys remember a few weeks ago HBK said this match wasn’t about winning? Well I do and I think this match is all about Michaels beating the hell out of Jericho. I see Chris winning on a DQ thanks to Michaels just doing his own thing and not following the rules. This could be a blood bath and I’m hoping that Michaels torn triceps holds up and he finally puts Y2J in his place. I cannot wait to see this match; this is going to be HOT!
Winner: Chris Jericho

Edited Note: Some of my very astute readers pointed out a major mistake that I made in my column. I need to make a very important correction. I totally forgot that Jericho vs. Michaels is an unsanctioned match, which means my DQ win for Jericho makes no sense at all. So let me go with Jericho for the win and NOT ON A DQ.

World Heavyweight Championship Scramble – CM Punk vs. JBL vs. Kane vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Batista
Yeah I’m sticking with Punk to come out on top. I would be crushed if JBL won, oh crushed. There’s a good mix of talent in here and I think this will be one of the top matches of the night. Batista has been on fire and I look for him to add a lot to this match, in fact every one involved is going to make this one good and it certainly would make Punk’s title reign look even better if he hangs on.
Winner: CM Punk

WWE Championship Scramble – Triple H vs. MVP vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. The Brain Kendrick accompanied by Ezekiel

These guys were just fantastic on Smackdown. Kendrick looked good attacking Hunter during Smackdown’s opening, and Benjamin and MVP did some nice mic work trash talking The Game and each other. And let’s not forget Jeff Hardy hitting the twist of fate on a surprised Triple H at the end of Smackdown’s Lumberjack main event with Hunter vs. Khali. What a cool way to end the show with Jeff Hardy looking down at the champion. I really am psyched for this one because I like the variety of talent You have the veterans, Triple H and Hardy along with MVP and Benjamin and then out of the blue you have THE BRIAN KENDRICK. This will have matt work, highflying moves and interference from Ezekiel, see a little of everything. I think this match might be the main event of the show. I am looking for Triple H to retain, and maybe start something up with Jeff Hardy or MVP after tomorrow night.
Winner: Triple H

There you have it and please keep your predictions coming. I have enjoyed the ones that I have received so far. And yes I ordered the show and I will be back on Tuesday to talk about Raw and Unforgiven. Hopefully my happiness from this week will carry over to Tuesday’s column.
