Linda’s Thoughts - WM 24 Predictions

Published March 29th, 2008 in Columns

I know this sounds weird but I am so excited about Wrestlemania 24. I don’t know if it’s because there’s so much about it on the sites, but I’m really hyped for tomorrow’s show. So with that I have to say I’m also excited to share my Wrestlemania predictions with you. I want to thank you for sharing your picks with me, and I’m finding with that the Money In The Bank Match is up for grabs. It’s cool to see that this match could go to a number of different wrestlers. Okay there are some matches that I feel very confident about and a few that I’m not sure about at all, so here I go.

BunnyMania Lumberjack Match: Ashley & Maria vs. The Glamazon & Melina - This is going to be one of the matches that I could care less about. I really don’t have too much to say about what we are going to see. I’m sure this won’t be horrible, yet trust me it’s not going to be that good either. Hopefully Snoop Dog can add something to this segment.
Winners; Maria and Ashley

24-Man Battle Royal - Winner faces ECW Champion - You know I can’t say that I have any interest in this match either. I don’t mean to sound so bitchy about these first two matches, but to me they will be the weakest of the show. Okay if you go to WWE.com and click on this match you’ll see the faces of all the participants. Some which include Kane, Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Chuck Palumbo and Jamie Noble. I’m going with Kane to win this. Now there might be a few things that come off well, like maybe Khali throwing Mark Henry out of the ring just like Henry did to Khali last night on Smackdown.
Winner: Kane

Chavo Guerrero vs. The Winner of the Battle Royal - Since I’m going with Kane I will say that Kane beats Chavo to become the new ECW champion. And if Kane does end up in the match and should lose to Chavo, then I would say it would be a matter of time before Kane defeats Chavo for the title. Listen if anyone deserves a title run it’s Kane. While I’m not big fan of Kane this guy is a total team player and while I don’t see this man ever getting the WWE or World title I could see the ECW title going to him.
Winner: Kane

Finlay vs. JBL Belfast Brawl - You know what? I think this is going to be a really good match. Let’s face it you have two guys that can brawl with the best of them. JBL isn’t exactly a top guy when it comes to wrestling, but when it comes to brawling I think it’s right up his ally. And Finlay? Hell he’s going to shine in this match. I can’t wait to see it.
I’m going with Finlay for the win. Now I wonder if Hornswoggle will show up and be a factor in the outcome. This could be a lot of fun to watch.
Winner: Finlay

SmackDown vs. Raw: Batista vs. Umaga - Right off the bat I don’t see either guy winning the match. I feel that this will end in a No Contest, because a win for either guy means that their show is the NUMBER 1 show, and right now I don’t see that happening. Maybe on paper this one doesn’t seem like much of a match, but I think we are in for a pleasant surprise. I keep saying that Batista has been on fire for a while now, and Umaga I believe has shown so many of the fans that he’s more than capable of performing in major matches. I expect this match to be really good.
Winner: Neither guy, I’m going with a No Contest

Money in the Bank Ladder Match –Chris Jericho, MVP, CM Punk, Carlito, Mr. Kennedy, Shelton Benjamin and John Morrison - Well you know this has to be one of THE top matches of the night. I’m going to rule out the obvious right now. The following have no chance in hell of winning. John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Mr. Kennedy and Carlito. I’m also ruling out I.C. Champion Chris Jericho, I really don’t see Y2J leaving with the brief case now that he’s got a title. So that leaves CM and MVP. And this is where you guys are split from your emails that I have gotten. These are the two names that most of you are going with. And like so many of you, I’m picking MVP for the win. Now had Matt Hardy been added in here he would have been my first pick. I think it was a given that Jeff Hardy was going to win this one and now that’s he’s out with a suspension I would have thought putting Matt in and having him win would be a nice balance, but I guess Vince didn’t think so. As much as I like Punk I can’t see Vince going with him, not when you read so many negative things about the way many feel about him backstage. I have to go with MVP he’s the guy right now on Smackdown that has the momentum. As I said this should be a hell of a match.
Winner: MVP

Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs. Big Show - There is NO WAY that Mayweather is going to lose this match. However, there is no way that the Big Show is going to look weak because he lost it. Since there must be a winner and it’s an anything goes match, I think someone will interfere costing Big Show the win. I have no idea what we are going to get, but with all the hype that WWE has put into these two guys let’s just hope that it was all worth it.
Winner: Floyd Mayweather

Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels (Career Threatening Match) - I think this is the match that most of us is looking forward too. Is tomorrow the night the night that Ric Flair says goodbye to the business and to the fans? Yeah I really think tomorrow night Flair will be in his last match. I can’t see Ric beating Shawn Michaels because Flair was the guy that took out Randy Orton on Monday night Raw. That was Flair’s moment to shine. Many feel it’s time for Ric to retire in the ring and I feel the same way. Every time Flair wrestles I worry about him getting a heart attack or just collapsing in the ring. Maybe it’s because Flair gives 110 percent and basically kills himself out there, I think he still thinks he’s in his 30’s. There is no doubt in my mind that Shawn Michaels is going to get the very best out of Flair and we are going to get a 5 star match.
Winner: Shawn Michaels

World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Undertaker - Okay many are saying that Taker is going to win to keep his streak going, but it will be because Edge got disqualified and then Edge will remain champion. See I think if that scenario took place that would piss off a lot of fans, including me. As much as I like Edge and love him as champion my thoughts are, let Taker not only beat Edge and become the new World Champion, but let his streak continue at 16-0. I would hate to see Taker lose and end a very impressive streak, so I not only need that streak to continue but I need to see him get it all and leave as the champion. I have totally loved the hype between these two, and I especially liked what we got last night on Smackdown. This is another match that I am looking forward too in a big way,
Winner: The Undertaker

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship- Triple H vs. John Cena vs. Randy Orton - I won’t lie to you, I want Hunter to win. It’s been three year since Hunter lost the title to Batista and as I’ve said before his No Mercy win was a quickie because of the unexpected injury to John Cena. I’m not going to count the two and a half hours that he held that title. So I want a Triple H win more than you can imagine. I don’t see John Cena winning only because he’s filming a movie. So that leaves Randy Orton, and that’s the guy that I’m leaning toward for the win. It was Randy that tapped out to Ric Flair Monday night, which makes me think that Orton will pull out a win tomorrow night. But then I think that Hunter might just take it and turn heel in the near future and face John Cena maybe in the summer for that title. This is a tough one for me because I really don’t see a clear winner. Do I go with my first pick Orton or switch to Hunter? Okay I’m sticking with Randy but I hope I lose this one. From what I have read this will end the show, although I’m hoping Vince will change his mind and end it with HBK and Flair. I think this will be a good match and a match that the fans will get into. This of course is another match that I am anxiously waiting for.
Winner: Randy Orton

There you have it, I’m not sure how accurate I am with my predictions, but this is one show that I have enjoyed guessing who will win. I have a few friends that are in Orlando and will be at the show so I want to tell them I’m jealous of you, but I know you will have a great time. I will be back on Tuesday with my thoughts on this show and Raw. Tonight I hope you will catch me on http://www.mywcwp.com/. Click on Podcasts and then Over the Ropes. I will be calling in at 9:15 pm Est. time and hosts Nick, Max, and I will be talking about the card for Wrestlemania and giving our predictions.
