Why ECW is the show to watch
Published November 15th, 2009 in Columns
Since I have not really been much into TNA IMPACT as of late (although I am curious to see what happens with Hogan) I have been watching the WWE more. This past Tuesday, I again watched ECW. While I never really cared much for the original ECW, the current WWE branded ECW as of late continues to be a very good TV product. ECW contains a lot of good wrestling and that is what I am enjoying seeing on ECW. This past Tuesday’s main event took me back to the good old days when the main events were 20 minutes or longer. Both Christian and William Regal put on a great match. Yes, the rating are not anything near RAW or SmackDown, but the wrestling is top notch. ECW has some great starts who are really working hard to make the wrestling the focal point of the show. I really like new comer Vance Archer, who wrestled last wrestled as Lance Rock in TNA. I like his new look with the shaved face and short hair. If used right he can be a great heal and could be used as a strong force on SmackDown.
ECW receives a lot of criticism because of the WWE using the name ECW and argue that maybe Vince should have used WCW instead. I do agree that the letters ECW is weak for a PG product like ECW and the name WCW may serve a better purpose, but the name WCW might turn some away because of how the company failed and then was miss-used under the unsuccessful Invasion angle back in 2001, but be that as it may ECW is producing some very in ring action.
If you want to see some good wrestling focusing on young talent that has more wrestling I think than 2 hours of IMPACT and even sometimes RAW, scheduled some time to check it out on SyFy Tuesday Night’s at 10:00pm or set your DVR or catch it on WWE.com if you can’t be in front of your TV, you may be pleasantly surprised.
