Live Notes From Last Nights WWE Judgement Day PPV

Thanks to reader Anthony Giacovelli for sending in the following:

I thought I’d sent along some quick notes from the show:

Not much of note from the show. The arena was very full with only a small area near the very top of the building tarped off.

The dark match saw Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes defeat Santino and Carlito. Not a bad match but I was more interested in the guys around me chanting “Sparkplug”.

JBL and Cena was exactly what you would expect from them, JBL pound him to death and Cena slips in an FU out of nowhere. Standard stuff, nothing special.

Tag Title match was good. I really enjoy watching Miz and Morrison evolve, I hope their run continues. Miz deserves big props for taking that chokeslam on the floor, it looked really brutal live.

Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels easily get match of the night, we were all very happy they didn’t run Batista interference and just let them work. It was nice to see actual wrestling for a change.

Women’s title match was better than expected with some cool spots. The double rack was awesome, very impressive.

The crowd seemed vocal live, but I don’t know how anything came off on TV (and I’m not paying $40 to find out). I can tell you they ABSOLUTELY HATED the World Title angle. I’ve never been a part of such an insanely loud atmosphere against a single person. It was amazing to be a part of. It looked like Vickie was ready to cry after the fifth or sixth time she got cut off and they kept getting louder each time. Big time serious heat for Vickie.

They probably should have ended the show with the World Title match because it went way downhill from there. Nobody cared about Hardy and MVP, aside from the girls going nuts for Jeff appearing, since they had all blown themselves up on the World Title match, seemed too slow paced and boring live. We were trying to start a wave during this one.

The Steel Cage match was also a big letdown. Aside from a few spots, it seemed like it was 20 minutes of Orton leaving the cage in the same spot and getting just slightly further each time until Trips finally hits something big and it’s over. Just didn’t fell like a Cage match of the current era with no big spots, they could have had a standard match and made Undertaker and Edge a ladder match or something.

Fun show, even if the wrestling wasn’t all that great.
