Wrestlingdotcom has learned that WWE Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio did an interview with the Record newspaper in Mexico regarding the announcement of his 30 day suspension from the WWE for violating the company’s Wellness Policy. Mysterio claims he was suspended for a drug he was using for his knee and arm, and he has a valid prescription for the drug. Mysterio added that due to his vacation, and then being sent to the UK by the WWE to promote SummerSlam, he wasn’t given notice of the results until Wednesday, and then was informed he had to provide the records of prescription by Thursday. Mysterio stated since he couldn’t show the WWE the prescription in time they ended up announcing his suspension this past Thursday.
On a side note, the WWE’s website is still promoting the Mysterio/Dolph Ziggler Intercontinental title match at the September 13th Breaking Point Pay-Per View, despite Mysterio’s suspension that is scheduled to begin September 2nd.
