Reports by the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter say that the WWE has put together a team of executives to pick up the slack in the company’s Corporate following Linda McMahon’s departure as Chief Executive Officer. It is said that the WWE knew about Linda’s announcement in advance and are prepared to take over her day-to-day duties. WWE chairman Vince McMahon is assuming the CEO title, and will continue be on the road every Monday at RAW and Tuesday at the SmackDown and ECW’s tapings to still be involved in the creative aspect of the product. It is said that he will be heavily involved in day-to-day operations at the end of the week. WWE COO Donna Goldsmith is one of the executives who is said will be filling in on a daily basis. She said at an investor’s conference in New York on Wednesday, that the WWE was informed of Linda McMahon’s plans to run for office some time ago. “She has been prepping us for a while on this,” Goldsmith said. “We have a host of people that are going to take those responsibilities with Vince assuming the CEO.” Vince McMahon recently took over his wife’s public duties of hosting the quarterly conference calls with WWE investors. Vince’s expanded corporate duties are not expected to interfere with his focus on the creative product presented on TV each week.
“Vince is definitely involved in the day-to-day, but he’s more involved in the creative. He has left a lot of detail to me and the rest of the team,” Goldsmith said. “At the back-end of the week, he will definitely be involved! And he will be even more with Linda’s departure.”
